ICL stands for Implantable Collamer Lens. ICLs are micro-thin lenses made of biocompatible material known as collamer.
ICLs are generally advised for individuals who are not fit for laser specs removal procedures such as very high numbers, thin corneas, dry eyes, etc.
An ICL is similar to a contact lens just that a contact lens has to be worn on the surface of eye and removed daily whereas ICL is implanted permanently inside the eye.
Types of ICL
ICL Toric: Corrects cylindrical power in addition to spherical power
ICL Spherical: Corrects only spherical power
Although ICL is manufactured by a lot of companies in both INDIA and Abroad, only STAAR Surgical Evo Visian ICL is US-FDA approved.
